Quick FactsFull Name: Ryan KnightNick Name: RaShardInstrumentation: Singer/Songwriter
On October 10, 1985 in the city of Texarkana, TX Eva and Rev. Howard Knight, Jr were blessed with a baby boy named Ryan RaShard Knight. Needless to say church was not an option and here would be where he first developed his love for music. His grandfather the late Kasey Hill was once quite the entertainer and founder of the family based gospel group “The Southern Bells of Harmony” that sang all throughout the south. This could be the seed for RaShard’s dream of being an entertainer and began singing in church at age 4. His raspy, soulful southern sound is a direct result of his small southern church roots. Always having an imagination later in middle school he developed a passion for writing and thus the idea of being a singer/songwriter was introduced. He wrote and sang original songs in various R&B groups throughout grade school but it was not until he attended Prairie View A&M University the vision of being a part of an actual self-contained band was realized. Here his love for music even drove him to become a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Musical Fraternity (Omicron Zeta chapter). Influenced by artists such as Frankie Beverly, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Glen Goins, R. Kelly, Raphael Saadiq and John Mayer just to name a few now RaShard strives to be the total entertainer ranging from singer/songwriter/performer. Whether he’s rocking the stage, writing a song for other artists or lending his unique tone of voice to a track RaShard has and forever will be in love with music.
